Our Projects

AHPAG is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the residents of Haiti, particularly the natives in the premier section of Gerin/Baraderes.

Currently we have five projects that we are focusing on, including:

1) Building a School – There are more than 300 children living in Gerin/Baraderes who are extremely keen to learn. Traditionally, students interested in learning are sent to other regions. Students would return home twice a years, if possible, to see their families. Our goal is to build a school, Grades K through 12, that will allow these students to stay close to their families.

2) Building a Health Center – This health center will serve the 35,000+ residents of Gerin and Greater Gerin. Currently residents have to travel more than 5 hours to see a doctor or health worker. Because of the extreme distance, many residents wait until the last minute to go and see a doctor, often exacerbating originally small issues.

3) Building a Community Center – The community center will be located in the center of town and will be a gathering place for all residents of Gerin/Baraderes. The School and the Health Center will be adjacent to the Community Center, allowing kids and families to safe place to play after school.

4) Improving Running Water – Water is plentiful in Gerin/Baraderes, but running water is not. Our goal is to improve the water system to bring running water into homes and to other areas of Haiti that are in drought.

5) Paved Road – This project has been complete thanks for the government. There is now a paved road that allows residents and commercial vehicles to easily travel to cities. It increases the chances of economic growth; allowing the many resources (fresh fruit, water, etc…) of the region to be easily exported to other regions.

6) Rebuilding St. Ann’s Church – St. Ann’s Church was erected in the early 1900s. As the main center for worship in Gerin/Baraderes, it is a highly attended church. However, after years of beatings by the tumultuous weather, it has started to fall into disrepair. Our goal is to restore the beauty St. Ann’s Church once was.
